In the final year of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP), which is the 4th grade, students share their work with the school community during the PYP Exhibition. This exhibition showcases how students have internalized the knowledge, concepts, and learning approaches they have acquired since preschool.
The PYP Exhibition is a collaborative experience that brings together the foundational elements acquired throughout the PYP journey. It is a celebration of the transition from primary to middle school, involving students, teachers, other members of the school community, and parents.
The PYP Exhibition unit takes place under any transdisciplinary theme within the framework of the inquiry program. Students engage in an interdisciplinary inquiry process where they identify, research, and propose solutions to real-life problems and issues. They conduct their work individually and collaboratively with peers under the guidance of a mentor. Mentors assist students in achieving their goals by asking questions, suggesting resources, aiding in the interpretation of complex information, and facilitating external connections. Mentors can be selected from all members of the school community, including parents, based on their areas of expertise.
During the PYP Exhibition process, our students actively engage in planning, presentation, and evaluation stages, allowing them to explore multiple perspectives, take action as a result of their learning, engage in deep reflection on their learning, and conduct assessments.
Members of the school community and parents attend the exhibition to support and celebrate the development of students who make a positive difference in their own lives and the lives of others, and who possess an international awareness.
